Schaffhausen’s population is approximately 75,000. About one half of the population lives in the city, while the other half is spread across the remaining 33 towns and villages throughout the canton.

The primary language spoken is German. However, since there are many multi-lingual citizens, foreign residents and tourists, most people also speak English, French or Italian.
